May is here, which means there's just a little more than two weeks left until we reach the constitutional adjournment deadline for this legislative session. The Senate released its tax bill, but a final compromise has yet to be reached.

This week's Legislative Digest covers:

  • Press conferences held by House Speaker Melissa Hortman and Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka about the final weeks of session. Do they think lawmakers can finish their work on time?
  • Provisions of interest to CPAs that are included in the Senate tax bill. Read the full summary for more information on these items.
  • Last-minute bill introductions and what they mean for CPAs.
And, if you haven't already, now is a great time to contact your legislator and share your thoughts on what should be included in a final tax bill.
