Executive Director of Internal Auditing
The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System announces a search for an Executive Director of Internal Auditing. Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director of Internal Auditing provides independent, objective assurance and advice on issues and operations that present material risk to the system and its 32 colleges and universities. The Executive Director is responsible for the operation and management of the Office of Internal Auditing, providing leadership and oversight to the system-wide internal audit function.

The successful candidate will possess strong organizational and proven management skills as well as the ability to provide leadership in a diverse multi-site, multi-functional business environment. The ideal candidate will have ten (10) years of comprehensive audit experience in a complex business environment, preferably in a higher education, government service or other similar environment, including at least five (5) years of management experience. A Master’s degree (in business, accounting or related field) or CPA licensure is required. A Certified Internal Auditor license is preferred.

Senior Staff Accountant
Barr Engineering Co. is looking a qualified Senior Staff Accountant to work in their Minneapolis office.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Learn critical corporate accounting functions and act as the back-up as needed
  • Reconcile sub-ledger to general ledger account balances
  • Provide support for audits by external entities – including direct interaction with the external auditors, gathering information and providing analysis as requested
  • Coordinate the state and foreign corporation registration process including the subsequent tax registration and filing requirements
  • Development and documentation of accounting related process and procedures
  • Responding to informational requests from internal and external clients
  • Other duties as requested
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a Staff Accountant position
  • Familiar with GAAP accounting principles
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel (spreadsheets, formulas, and charts) and other Office Applications +
  • Working knowledge of accounting based software systems and their integration to external systems and processes
  • Possess self-initiative and motivation with interest in working both individually or as part of a team
  • Acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Deltek Vision accounting software highly valued, but not required
  • Experience with multi-company and multi-currency accounting systems
  • Experience with international accounting transactions
  • Experience with project and/or process management

Senior Corporate Auditor - Corporate Headquarters
Plan and execute internal audit projects and engagements with an emphasis on operational and financial systems, processes and risks. Provide input and guidance on enterprise wide business risks, and assist the applicable Audit Manager in completing the annual audit plan. Work closely with management of all areas of the Company by assessing risk, completing independent/objective evaluations of risks and processes, and recommending improvements to the associated controls and processes.

Responsibilities:

60% of Time
Plan and execute audits and special projects, including the presentation of findings and recommendations to various levels of management. Assist with all aspects of audit projects including, project and scope planning, execution of testwork and communication of audit results.

20% of Time
Build and maintain relationships with primary audit customers.

10% of Time
Assist in the research and communication of risks and controls to all areas of management.

5% of Time
Maintain and enhance the Internal Audit Department's awareness, and use of current tools and practices to ensure effective, efficient, independent, objective and value added evaluations, of the Company's operations and controls.

5% of Time
Participate in other Departmental activities **No relocation available.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree Business - Accounting or Finance preferred
3 or more years Internal Audit or equivalent experience and/or business analysis experience
