Key Legislative Contact Information

What is a Key Legislative Contact?

A Key Legislative Contact is someone who is interested in making a difference for their profession by contacting elected officials and becoming a liaison between them and the MNCPA. If you have a relationship with a legislator, or are willing to establish one, you are qualified to become a Key Legislative Contact.

What do Key Legislative Contacts do?

Use their relationships to educate legislators about, and try to gain support for, our issues. This can be done through:

  • Face-to-face meetings
  • Personal letters
  • Email conversations
  • Phone conversations

What is the time commitment?

Minimal - the time it takes to write a letter or make a phone call (we provide a form letter).

Most likely there will only be a few times during each legislative session that we would ask our KLC's to contact their Legislators.

Why should I get involved?

  • Legislators are far more receptive to issues and ideas when they hear them from people they know personally, or from constituents that take the time to meet with them
  • The more contacts we have, the larger and more influential our voice will be at the Capitol
  • Your relationship with a key legislator could be highly beneficial to our chances of success on a bill
  • Key Legislative Contacts have been and will continue to be, a critical part of our success at the Capitol

How do I get involved?

If you have a relationship with a legislator or are willing to establish one, simply fill out the Become a Key Legislative Contact form. We will then contact you when we need you to get in touch with your legislators.
