Young Professionals GroupYoung professional n (mn. 2012): The Minnesota Society of CPAs defines a young professional as anyone who has become certified within the past 10 years or is pursuing his or her CPA credential.

YPG socials

The YPG hosts a variety of social events throughout the year. Many events are co-hosted with other professional groups including bankers, lawyers, insurance professionals and members of various chambers of commerce.

Events include:

  • Wine and beer tastings

  • Networking cruises

  • Golf outings

  • Bowling

  • Happy hours

  • Baseball games

  • Scavenger Hunts

  • Comedy events

YPG educational luncheons

The YPG offers 2-4 educational luncheons designed specifically for young professionals, along with a chance to network. We ask you what topics are relevant so luncheons make you more valuable to your employer and clients.

YPG eNews

The YPG eNews delivers articles on career and personal development and provides tips on advancing your career. You also get notices of upcoming YPG socials and educational events.

YPG Captain program

This program is designed to encourage participation in YPG events. The program awards points for each guest a captain brings to a YPG event. You accumulate points to earn prizes while building your professional network and enhancing your leadership skills.

Prize structure

  • $500 check -- 1st place

  • $300 check -- 2nd place

  • $200 check -- 3rd place

YPG Leadership Committee

The YPG Leadership Committee meets 4-5 times a year to plan events and strategies to help young CPAs during the early stages of their careers. The Committee also oversees the YPG program and attends events in order to make connections and encourage participation in the program.

CPAs enjoy a little healthy competition and strike up conversations with other young professionals at the YPG Bowling Championship.
