MNCPA makes an impact at the Capitol

were more than 100 meetings with legislators to discuss
issues
important to you, your clients and the CPA profession. The 2010
legislative agenda and issues discussed were:
Director of Government Relations, Geno Fragnito started the day with a
welcome presentation and an update of this year's
legislative agenda. Throughout
the day legislators stopped by to provide their perspectives on the challenges
facing the state and what the influences may be on the CPA profession,
businesses and your clients. Legislators who talked to the group included:
- Rep. Tom Rukavina of the Higher Education and Workforce Development
Policy and Finance Committee
- Rep. Kurt Zellers, House Minority Leader
- Rep. Bob Gunther
Between meetings and speakers members listened to the House Tax
Committee discuss the Minnesota Department of Revenue 2010 Tax Expenditure
Report.
It is important for legislators to understand what CPAs do and why the issues
are important to the profession. Lobby Day provided an excellent opportunity for members to share their concerns with legislators.
