The City of Edina, Minnesota (pop. 53,268), is seeking an experienced financial manager to be its Finance Director and provide strategic management of the City’s fiscal resources. Edina is a first-ring suburb of Minneapolis, known for its outstanding quality of life and attractive neighborhoods.
The Director of Finance is responsible for long-range planning to meet the City’s operational and capital needs and provides trusted advice to the City’s Executive Leadership Team and City Council. The Director of Finance is responsible for the performance of approximately eight Finance and Utility Billing employees and for oversight of a consolidated budget of $131 million, including the $49 million General Fund and various enterprise operations. In addition, the Finance Director is responsible for investing the City’s portfolio, which is valued from $60-$100 million, depending upon the time of year.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field and a minimum of five years of experience, including three years of experience managing of staff, or equivalent. Fund accounting experience is desirable. A CPA, CGFM, CPFO or MBA is preferred. Experience in a comparably sized community is preferred.
The salary range for this position is $124,109-$162,894. The City of Edina offers a competitive benefits program, including participation in the Public Employees Retirement Association pension plan.
