Scheduling the CPA Exam

The process of scheduling your CPA exam sections includes several steps and is subject to some limitations. Use the information below to assist you when planning your CPA exam schedule.

Notice to Schedule

Once CPA Exam Services determines you're eligible to take the exam, they will contact NASBA. NASBA will issue a Notice to Schedule (NTS). The NTS is valid for 6 months from the date noted on the NTS and will list the sections you are approved to take. Your NTS will include the date that your NTS expires.

Once you've received your NTS, you can register to take a section(s) of the CPA exam directly with Prometric, Inc. View the list of Prometric test centers.

Testing windows

Each calendar year is divided into four examination windows. The CPA exam is offered a minimum of 5 days a week for two of the three months in each window. Candidates are only allowed to take each test section one time per examination window.

Open test months:

  • January / February
  • April / May
  • July / August
  • October / November

In general, exams can be scheduled 6 days a week:

  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:50 pm
  • Saturday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
