James Andersen, CPA/ABV, ASA

A nationally recognized leader in business valuation, Jim Andersen routinely partners with members of the legal community to tackle matters involving complex partnerships, corporate and dissenting shareholder actions, economic damages and other forensic accounting assignments. He also has experience in the family law arena, dealing with high networth cases that involve valuation of a business as part of the community estate. Andersen’s expert testimony on a variety of forensic assignments has contributed to significant legal awards throughout California.

Teaching, writing and public speaking are among Andersen’s professional passions. He has been an instructor for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and speaks frequently at their annual valuation and forensic accounting symposiums. Andersen has written four courses for the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA) and currently teaches three of them. Among his coursework credits are a six-day, extensive business valuation curriculum; mergers and acquisitions for mid-market companies; business succession planning and exit strategies; and his newest course, opportunities and methodologies for running a successful litigation practice.
