At the MNCPA Leadership Academy, you'll journey through a series of seminars, webinars and one-on-one consulting sessions that equip you with the critical skills you need to be a successful leader -- from strategic thinking, innovation and people development to entrepreneurism, business development, communication and navigating challenges.


You'll pave the way for more challenging client work, leadership roles and career growth, and come away with the confidence and skills you need to be a successful, capable leader.

Major subjects

  • Workshop 1 (June 27) -- Foundations of Leadership and Idiosyncrasies of Professional Service Firms
    A paradigm for leadership; key traits of CPA firm leaders; building a strong personal foundation; your unique qualities and how they impact your leadership approach; creating your leadership development plan. (8 CPE credits)
  • Catalyst Coaching Session 1 -- To be scheduled by participants in July
    Individual 50-minute phone session with instructor to review your leadership development plan and jump-start specific action steps to develop key leadership behaviors and skills. (1 CPE credit)
  • Workshop 2 (Aug. 27) -- 360-Degree Leadership: Lead Well in All Directions (Including Yourself)
    Leadership in real life -- participant case study; navigating work-life tensions; firm and client expectations; handling generational differences, from partner to staff; designing and communicating action plans. (8 CPE credits)
  • Webinar 1 (Sept. 26) -- The Importance of Planning and Productivity to Leadership
    Following through on learning from Workshops 1 and 2; practical tips for planning and productivity; participant case study on a real-time leadership challenge. (1.5 CPE credits)
  • Workshop 3 (Nov. 2) -- Fill Your Leadership Toolbox: Delegation, Feedback, Meetings, Difficult Conversations and More
    Leadership in real life -- participant case study; effective delegation, feedback and coaching skills; performance issues, conflict and difficult conversations; how to make meetings productive and engaging; preparing for the next level of leadership. (8 CPE credits)
  • Webinar 2 (Dec. 12) -- How to Become a More Strategic Leader
    Following through on learning from Workshop 3 and preparing for busy season; developing strategic thinking skills; participant case study on a real-time leadership challenge. (1.5 CPE credits)
  • Workshop 4 (Jan. 14) -- The Next Leadership Frontier: Enhance Your Professional Image and Deliver Exceptional Value
    Follow-up on action plans from Workshop 3; presentation skills, thought leadership and business development; opportunities to lead within your profession; preparing for your next leadership frontier -- an action plan for the future; closing session with participants and sponsoring partners. (8 CPE credits)
  • Catalyst Coaching Session 2 -- To be scheduled by participants in January
    Individual 50-minute phone session with instructor to review your leadership development plan progress and focus on how you'll implement key action steps during the 2019 busy season and beyond. (1 CPE credit)

Who should take this program?

Ideal Leadership Academy candidates are CPAs in public practice, ages 25-35, with at least three years of professional experience.
