Cash Management -- Strategies and Execution - Too often cash management only receives sufficient attention when an organization is in need of funds, or when it has excess funds.The cash conversion cycle is discussed with an emphasis on the variables that can have a significant impact on determining its timing.The use of several key financial ratios, as part of a continuous monitoring system, is covered. The importance of establishing a monitoring system for cash needs and to measure changes in your competitive situation is highlighted. Sources of competitor's financial information are listed and discussed. Emphasis on managing working capital levels and potential improvements to cash budgeting are incorporated in this discussion. As part of this conversation, potential approaches to improve cash budgeting, including adapting a rolling forecast approach are covered. The impact of global economic trends on the availability of funds and the potential cost, as well as the impact of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act are explained. Specific actions to manage and potentially reduce an organization's cost of capital are included in the above discussion. The impact of Covid-19, and other Black Swan events is explored, as is the rise in zombie companies, even before Covid.
