Talk to the Students Program: Inspiring Future CPAs

When did you first learn about the accounting profession? Was it from a teacher, an acquaintance, or a family member? Imagine being the person who inspires the next generation of Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) through the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants (MNCPA)'s Talk to the Students Program.

Program Overview

The Talk to the Students Program is an exciting opportunity that connects MNCPA members with high school teachers across Minnesota. Our goal is simple: to make students aware of the diverse career paths available to accountants and ignite their interest in the accounting profession.

How It Works

Volunteer Registration: If you're interested in inspiring future CPAs, email us at membership@mncpa.org and we'll add you to our volunteer list.

Timeframe: The academic year, with an emphasis on Accounting Opportunities Week in early November.

Speaker Requests: When a high school teacher requests a CPA speaker, we'll notify you if there's a request near your home or office.

Preparation: If you're available to speak, the MNCPA will provide you with the necessary resources:

  • PowerPoint Presentation: a ready-to-use presentation with speaker notes.
  • Presentation Tips: helpful hints to help you tell your story.
  • Talking Points: guidance on facilitating meaningful discussions with students.
  • Student Handouts: materials to supplement your message.
  • Optional Activities: interactive case studies and activites to engage students.
