CPE Log impacted by BOA CPE deadline extension
Updated Sept. 10, 2020
The Minnesota Board of Accountancy’s (BOA) CPE deadline extension poses tracking limitations for the CPE Log. We apologize for the inconvenience. Read on for an explanation of the CPE Log's limitations.
The BOA extended the close of the current CPE earning period from June 30, 2020, to Sept. 30, 2020, in response to COVID-19.
CPAs may use CPE earned after June 30 but prior to Oct. 1, 2020, to meet the CPE requirements for the 2021 license renewal period.
CPE Log impacts:
MNCPA CPE courses are programmed to be applied to the CPE year in which they are taken. This means MNCPA courses taken between July 1 and Sept. 30, 2020, are automatically applied to the current CPE year: July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021.
If you’re taking advantage of the BOA’s extension, know that MNCPA CPE courses taken during July, August and September will be applied to the current CPE year (July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021 ) rather than the previous CPE year (July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020).
Similarly, CPE taken elsewhere and manually entered into the CPE Log will appear in the CPE year associated with the event date chosen.
In future reporting years:
CPE Log totals and compliance statements may or may not be accurate for all reporting periods affected by CPE taken during the extension and applied to the previous CPE year. This is also true for the BOA CPE summary.
