Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants hosts largest tax conference in Midwest Nov. 12-13
MINNEAPOLIS (Oct. 11, 2018) -- More than 1,500 CPAs from around the United States are expected to attend the 64th Annual MNCPA Tax Conference on Nov. 12--13 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The two-day event offers more than 50 sessions led by nationally-renowned tax and business experts. This year is expected to be especially busy coming on the heels of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act; many of the sessions address tax reform.
The MNCPA Tax Conference is highlighted by a closing keynote speech from Cheryl Reeve, general manager and head coach of the four-time WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx. Reeve will share insights on how success requires physical and mental toughness, as well as a whole lot of heart.
Additionally, the Minnesota Department of Revenue will host a 2019 filing season update as a bonus session from 7--7:50 a.m., Nov. 13. Revenue Commissioner Cynthia Bauerly, Assistant Commissioner Jenny Starr and Assistant Commissioner Cynthia Rowley will provide updates on what the department has been working on to accommodate the differences between the federal and Minnesota tax laws.
MNCPA Tax Conference Task Force Chair Bryan Ross, CPA says the two-day event is a great opportunity for tax professionals to learn, network and ready themselves for the upcoming tax season.
"Year after year, the MNCPA Tax Conference offers the most experienced speakers engaging attendees about the topics that matter most to them and their work," Ross said. "This year is no exception. We have a nice balance of technical sessions, firm management topics and, of course, life stories with a motivational bent from our keynote speaker, Cheryl Reeve."
Other renowned presenters include:
- Lakecia Foster Stickney, JD, LLM, director of congressional and political affairs for the American Institute of CPAs, shares a tax advocacy update from the U.S. Capitol and how the process works to move the needle in Washington, D.C.
