New CPAs honored at MNCPA Spring Recognition Dinner
More than 120 will be recognized for their accomplishment May 24
MINNEAPOLIS (May 17, 2018) -- The Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants (MNCPA) will honor more than 120 recently certified CPAs May 24 at its annual Spring CPA Recognition Dinner at the Minneapolis Marriott Southwest in Minnetonka. During the recognition ceremony, new CPAs will take the Oath of the Certified Public Accountant, enjoy keynote speaker Christopher Carter and celebrate their esteemed accomplishment with their employers, family and friends.
The MNCPA's Recognition Dinners -- held in the spring and fall -- are premier events that recognize the hard work and dedication it takes to become a certified public accountant. To become certified, candidates must pass all four sections of the Uniform CPA Examination, complete the self-study ethics examination and meet certain education and experience requirements before applying for the CPA certificate through the Minnesota Board of Accountancy. The Spring CPA Recognition Dinner celebrates new CPAs initially certified between October 2017 and April 2018.
This year, Jeff R. Pullen, a graduate of Clemson University with a B.S. in Accounting and a Master of Accounting, will be recognized during the program as an Elijah Watt Sells Award recipient. The Elijah Watt Sells Award was established in 1923 to recognize outstanding performance on the CPA examination. It is awarded to CPA candidates who obtained a cumulative average score above 95.50 across all four sections of the exam, and who passed each exam section on their first attempt in one calendar year. Pullen is employed with KPMG LLP in Minneapolis.
