Felicia Krick, CPA
Bringing a passion for mentoring to recruitment
April 8, 2026
One trait Felicia Krick, CPA doesn’t lack is an infectious enthusiasm for the profession. A tax senior manager at RSM, Krick found a natural intersection between her passion for sharing her experience as a CPA and the profession-wide push for recruitment through her work as a mentor.
“I first became involved when our office managing partner at RSM in Minneapolis was searching for individuals in the firm who were willing to mentor high school students interested in accounting,” she said. “Mentoring through the MNCPA’s Scholars Program was the perfect opportunity for me to mix my professional experience with my passion for working with students.”
Supporting and empowering students is something Krick has been interested in for most of her life. Originally, she imagined she would become a teacher. Yet, she found the coursework didn’t engage her as much as she thought it would. Instead, another major caught her attention while in college: accounting.
“I took one accounting class and really liked the structure that accounting provides,” Krick said. “I do better with clear directions and rules and that is what I found within my accounting coursework.”
As she continued her studies, it became clear that having a degree in accounting wasn’t going to be the end of Krick’s story. After learning more about the CPA license and the exam process, Krick realized getting her license would be the key to broadening career opportunities.
“Throughout my professional career, most of the roles I have applied for require or, at a minimum, prefer a candidate with their CPA license so this has been one less roadblock for me,” Krick said.
Krick never shook that aptitude for teaching. Instead, that affinity became a throughline both in her recruiting work at RSM and as a mentor with the MNCPA’s Scholars Program. She even took the reins when the scholars visited her home firm, planning activities and interactions that went beyond passive listening.
“One of the great things about working with Felicia is how well she understands what makes the profession compelling for students,” said Amy Johnston, membership engagement coordinator and program lead for the Scholars Program. “When the scholars went to RSM, Felicia put together a scavenger hunt around Minneapolis, with the aim of showing students what it’s like to be a working professional at a firm downtown. This was an invaluable experience for students who often want more than just being talked at about firm life; they want to really see it.”
Krick’s keen understanding of how to best showcase the profession is clear in the interest she’s sparked in her mentees. After going through the interview process for a new role, one former mentee shared with her how important her guidance had been.
“He told me the most valuable piece of information I was able to provide him was to know when to advocate for yourself,” Krick said. “As much as we think others have our best interest in mind, it is up to us to advocate for ourselves and ask for the things that we think will make us more successful. This was the first time I realized the work I was putting in as a mentor had a lasting impact on one of my mentees.”
