Mark Foreman

A career built on strategy, stewardship and entrepreneurial insight

February 10, 2026

Mark Foreman

When Mark Foreman became a CPA in 1986, he did so with a practical vision.

He believed that CPAs stood closest to the entrepreneurs who generated wealth — and that proximity offered unique insight into how successful businesses were built. His objective wasn’t simply to work with money, but to position himself at the crossroads of opportunity, where numbers met strategy and where business owners looked for guidance.

Now, four decades later and after more than 10 firm acquisitions, Mark can look back on earning his CPA as the foundational start and guiding star that navigated him to this point.

From campus to compass

Mark’s earliest steps into accounting began during his junior year at the University of Louisiana, where he interned for a CPA firm in Lafayette. Those introductory years exposed him to the challenges business owners face in keeping pace with their financial landscape. The experience shaped his belief that accountants should do far more than reconcile accounts — they should help clients understand the bigger picture of their business and financial future.

This philosophy aligns closely with the values described in the profile of his firm, Foreman & Airhart, Ltd., which emphasizes helping clients manage the complexities of business and personal finances through strategic insight and proactive advisement.

After moving to Minnesota, Mark continued to deepen his experience in audit, accounting and taxation while working with a diverse range of clients. His career took a pivotal turn during his time at a Plymouth accounting firm, where he spent six years honing his skills and leadership approach. When the firm’s owner offered him the opportunity to take over the practice, Mark seized it. The decision marked his official entry into entrepreneurship — an outcome he had quietly chased since his early days in Louisiana.

Building through acquisition

From the moment he became an owner, Mark understood that steady, organic growth — while important — was not the only path forward. Strategic acquisitions provided a faster, more efficient way to broaden his client base and strengthen the firm’s service offerings. Over the course of his career, his firm completed 11 acquisitions, each representing a deliberate step toward building a practice with depth, resilience and the capacity to serve increasingly complex client needs.

For Mark, mergers weren’t about size. They were about opportunity. Acquiring firms allowed him to expand not only in numbers, but in experience, perspective, and the ability to better respond to the evolving demands of businesses and individuals seeking financial guidance. His firm reinforces this emphasis on strategic advising, highlighting Mark’s deep experience of working with owners of small to midsized businesses and helping them make decisions aligned with long-term goals.

Staying small by design

Despite the success of these acquisitions, Mark intentionally resisted the pressure to transition into a large, multi‑partner structure. He discovered early on that concentrating ownership in a single individual offered clarity, accountability and efficiency.

“I have found that by concentrating ownership into one person, the risk is concentrated with that one person,” Mark said. “I have found that some, perhaps most people, are adverse to assuming financial risk.”

A career elevated by the CPA credential

To Mark, the CPA designation has always represented more than a title. He considers it one of the most respected professional distinctions, one that opened doors to advising business owners, executives and individuals with complex financial needs. It provided the foundation for a career defined not only by technical expertise, but by strategic leadership and entrepreneurial vision.

Today, Mark continues to blend experience and insight to reach clients who need the kind of thoughtful, strategic advisement he has built his career upon. His journey — from intern to multi‑acquisition firm owner — demonstrates the power of the CPA credential and pairing practical ambition with a genuine commitment to client success.
