In memoriam

Longtime MNCPA member Warren “Boz” Bostrom passed away Oct. 9, 2025. He was 52.

Bostrom is the most recent past president of the MNCPA board, where he helped advance key legislation to broaden the pathways to CPA licensure. Bostrom brought energy and passion to the profession and the MNCPA, where he served on the board for six years. He was also a highly respected instructor.

“He was the right person at the right time,” MNCPA President and CEO Linda Wedul said of Bostrom’s advocacy for broadening the pathways to CPA licensure. “When the board faced tough decisions — knowing criticism would come — he encouraged us to move forward with confidence and clarity. And, in true Boz fashion, he was quick to add that it was the board as a whole that took the courageous step.”

Bostrom spent nine years working for a Big 4 firm before, in 2004, joining the faculty of the College of St. Benedict and Saint John’s University, his alma mater, to help cultivate future accountants. Bostrom was known for developing relationships with students, mentoring many through their collegiate careers and beyond. He wrote three books, including “The New Start,” a novel about a young auditor navigating an insider trading scandal.

“The untimely loss of Boz is heartbreaking,” said MNCPA Board Chair Eric O’Link, who followed Bostrom as chair. “I feel like Boz still had so much to share with us — the MNCPA board, the AICPA Council, other CPAs who enjoyed his ethics CPE and, of course, the students at CSB/SJU. His absence will be felt for a long time to come, but I believe the legacy of his impact on the accounting profession will last far longer.”

William “Bill” Kampa, CPA passed away Sept. 14, 2025, at the age of 34. An MNCPA member since 2019 and an auditor with a 10-year career first at PWB CPAs & Advisors, then Eide Bailly, LLP, Bill was described by his colleagues as approachable, dedicated, friendly and always willing to lend an ear.
