Paul Marquart is commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Revenue, where he oversees the day-to-day operations of an agency with more than 1,400 employees that administers more than 40 state and local taxes and collects more than $35 billion annually. Prior to his appointment as commissioner, Marquart served 18 years in the Minnesota House of Representatives, including four years as chair of the House Taxes Committee, as well as leadership roles with the House Education Finance Committee and Property Tax Division. Before his legislative career, he served as mayor and city councilmember of Dilworth and taught social studies at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton High School for 39 years. He holds degrees in education and educational administration from the University of North Dakota and Tri-College University.
