Sharyn Fisk, JD, LLM, professor of taxation at the College of Business Administration at Cal Poly Pomona, is a nationally recognized expert in tax law with more than two decades of experience. She recently served as director of the Internal Revenue Service’s Office of Professional Responsibility (2020–2025), setting and enforcing professional standards for over 400,000 tax practitioners. Sharyn also led the IRS’s IRA Tax Provision Implementation Office, overseeing the rollout of 34 provisions from the Inflation Reduction Act and CHIPS Act. Earlier in her career, she clerked for Judge Maurice Foley at the U.S. Tax Court and became a partner at Hochman, Salkin, Rettig, Toscher & Perez, representing clients before the IRS, Department of Justice Tax Division, and state taxing authorities. A certified tax law specialist and Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel, she has held leadership roles with the American Bar Association and California State Bar and served on the IRS Advisory Council from 2016 to 2019.
