MNCPA PERSPECTIVES

MNCPA Activity Report unveils bridge to the future

MNCPA Activity Report unveils bridge to the future The concept of time can sometimes be difficult to track.

Take a year, for example, which is 525,600 minutes, as made famous by the musical, “Rent.”

There is, of course, the traditional calendar year running Jan. 1–Dec. 31. Then, take your birthday. A year older every Oct. 17 or May 28 or whatever day on which your birthday falls. For some, the entire year revolves around that specific date. As we experienced recently, the school year started for Minnesota’s children. Then there’s the fiscal year, which, depending on where you work and with whom you work, may start in July, October, January or any other month.

In the MNCPA’s case, our fiscal year starts in April. So, why is this of importance in September?
Well, recently at the MNCPA Annual Meeting, which highlighted the progress of and work by MNCPA staff and members, the MNCPA Activity Report was unveiled, which gives a thorough look at many of those accomplishments.

You’ll find in the report:
  • Efforts addressing the CPA pipeline through various programs at the high school and college levels.
  • Celebrating the return of in-person events last year, a very missed component of operations the year prior.
  • Exploring the MNCPA brand refresh, aimed at building the society for the future and empowering our members.
  • Advocacy work done at the Minnesota Capitol on behalf of members and those you represent.
  • Highlights of continuing education, both in scope and topics, including new webinars, changes to the large conferences and the expansion of other programs.
  • Free CPE information!
  • Like this Perspectives post, a look at how the MNCPA keeps members informed of the ever-changing profession.
  • A look at various resources provided to members throughout the year to help you complete your very important work.
  • And, you guessed it, much, much more!
So, while 525,600 minutes is a hard concept to grasp with how we typically measure time, I respectfully request for you to take 10 minutes to look over the MNCPA Activity Report to better understand what your fellow members and the MNCPA staff accomplished this past fiscal year.

It’ll be well worth your time. Besides, you’ll still have 525,590 minutes until I ask you the same question next year.
