Sean Stein Smith, Ph.D., CPA, CMA, CGMA, CFE, is an assistant professor at the City University of New York – Lehman College. His award-winning research has been recognized and honored both in the United States and internationally. Dr. Stein Smith is a frequent guest on media outlets discussing blockchain, cryptoassets, and accounting technologies. He has published multiple books, and dozens of academic and practitioner articles and has a weekly column with Forbes, discussing crypto and blockchain issues as they connect to accounting, policymaking, and financial reporting. Dr. Stein Smith has served as a visiting research fellow at the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER) and has a book forthcoming with the institute. He has developed and presented courses on artificial intelligence, cryptoassets and blockchain and has delivered presentations and training sessions for many organizations, professional associations, state accounting societies and colleges and universities. Dr. Stein Smith serves on the advisory board or as a strategic advisor for multiple organizations focused on cryptoassets, blockchain and digital currency and he has received numerous awards including the Outstanding Young CPA of the Year Award by the AICPA in 2022.
