MNCPA Membership Frequently Asked Questions

Mailing List and Membership Update Questions

I would like to take my name off your mailing list.

Contact the membership department and ask to be removed from the mailing lists. Please state whether you wish to be excluded from all member mailings or just third-party mailings. You may receive a few more mailings as some of our mailings are prepared weeks in advance.

I called to change my address, but I just received mail at the old address OR it doesn't appear on the Internet.

There may be several reasons for this. First, contact the membership department and verify that your updates were completed correctly. Also, some mailings are prepared weeks before the mail date. As a result, there will be a gradual slowdown of mailings over the following weeks, but no new mailings will be sent to the old address.

Membership Dues Questions

I have just received my annual dues notice. I thought that I had already paid my dues months ago.

First, verify that you have actually paid your dues to the MNCPA. Often people mix up a payment to the Minnesota Board of Accountancy with a payment to the MNCPA. If that’s not the case, contact the membership department and verify when the last payment on record was received and by which method. If you have information about the payment in question (check number, date of payment, etc.), please have it available. We will look through our files and resolve the problem.

What is the dues structure like? I am looking at other members' statements in my office and they are all different.

Annual dues are based on your type of membership, type of practice, and years of experience. Our fiscal year runs from April 1 - March 31. Dues are pro-rated after October 1. See dues structure below for more information. Please note that new members and renewing members may have different dues rates.
DUES AMOUNTS

Are my dues deductible?

A portion of your membership dues are deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses. However, because of MNCPA lobbying activities, a percentage of your membership dues are nondeductible. For this year's nondeductible percentage, see the dues payment page.

Is there an inactive dues status?

MNCPA does not offer an inactive dues status. We do offer a special rate for our members who are out of the workforce. Contact the membership department to get details and adjust your employment status.

What happens if I leave the Society and then decide to rejoin at a later date?

If you wish to reinstate your MNCPA membership, you must go through the application process again. No longer a member? Join now!

Are there PAC contribution restrictions?

Contributions to the MNCPA PAC are voluntary, and are not deductible as charitable contributions. Only checks from individuals will be accepted; contributions from corporations are prohibited by law.
