MNCPA PERSPECTIVES

Participate in the NPAG talent pipeline survey

March 18, 2024  |  Linda Wedul, CAE

Participate in the NPAG talent pipeline survey A national conversation about the accounting pipeline is underway and you have an opportunity to add your insight.

The National Pipeline Advisory Group (NPAG) launched two surveys to gather stakeholder feedback concerning the accounting talent pipeline. NPAG, which was formed by the AICPA and is composed of members from various accounting-related organizations throughout the nation, pledges to use its findings to advocate for a “holistic pipeline strategy” that will attract more candidates to accounting.

The primary 10-minute survey seeks responses from those working in the accounting industry — CPAs, accountants, educators, state society members and other stakeholders working in the profession. Survey questions address salary, work-life balance, culture, licensure and engagement with potential accounting students.

It’s imperative Minnesota CPAs are heard in this process.

Take the survey

NPAG was formed as a result of MNCPA’s efforts to broaden the pathways to CPA licensure, which aims to add an additional pathway to CPA licensure while also retaining the 150-hour credit rule for those who want to pursue that option. MNCPA-backed legislation, Senate File 1660, moved to its second Senate committee for discussion this month. The companion bill in the Minnesota House, House File 1749, hasn’t received a hearing yet.

The second NPAG survey is for college students who are studying accounting or business to share their perspectives about education and considerations for their early career. Please pass along the link to anyone who qualifies for that survey.

NPAG is expected to release a pipeline strategy plan later this spring. We encourage you to have your voice heard about the issues that will influence the profession for decades to come.
