Step into spring with the MNCPA

Updated Feb. 26, 2024

Winter can be tough mentally and physically. Add job pressure to the mix and this time of year can be downright brutal. We’ve got something to help put a little spring back into your step.

The MNCPA Step Challenge is designed to help members stay active during a busy time of year and get ready for spring. The challenge kicks off on Friday, March 1 and will run through Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Team totals are calculated by average, and teams of up to 15 participants can sign up (individuals are encouraged to sign up as well). Teams must have at least one MNCPA member. Award categories will be based on the following team sizes:

  • 1 (individual team)
  • 2 – 8 team members
  • 9 - 15 team members

Registration for 2024 is now closed. Happy stepping everyone!

New this year: the High Stepper Award!

The individual with the most steps throughout the challenge will be named the High Stepper of the year and win an additional award.

Steps are tracked using the ChallengeRunner app or by manually inputting them via
All participants must join the challenge in the ChallengeRunner app.

Do you get moving in other ways? No problem! Use this handy-dandy chart to convert those activities into steps.

Have questions before you get started? Check out our FAQs.

Note: If you use Apple Health, you cannot sync via the website. You must sync via the mobile app. After you create your account, download the ChallengeRunner app from the app store on your phone. Go to your phone's settings menu and click on "ChallengeRunner." Click "Enabled." Go to the app and log in using your credentials. After a few minutes the two apps will sync.

To input data manually:

Each night before you go to bed, check your step counter, log into your ChallengeRunner account and input the number of steps in the empty box next to your name. If you forget to input your steps, you can go back up to a week to submit them. Please read these tips to make sure you’re tracking your steps properly:

  • Record your steps daily with the ChallengeRunner app and click "save" to record the steps.
  • You can also input the steps using your web browser: Select “Log Date” and choose which date you want to save your steps. After typing in your steps, wait 5-10 seconds and an orange “saved” will appear next to the box.

We want to see your progress throughout the challenge! Share your photos by tagging us on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook. In addition, please send all photos (a beautiful view from your afternoon stroll, pets enjoying a run with you, etc. – have fun with it!) to Amy Johnston at to be included on social media and maybe even Footnote!
