Public Relations Volunteer Opportunities
Serve as a CPA spokesperson on tax- and accounting-related issues during tax season and beyond. Increase your public profile as you share your expertise and represent the CPA profession via interviews with reporters (print, radio, TV). Spokespersons attend free media training each fall and participate in media interviews as they arise, based on availability and fit.
Time commitment: 3-15 hours
Position yourself as a leader in the profession by sharing your knowledge with MNCPA members as an author of an article for an MNCPA publication. Articles may be used for the the MNCPA website, in MNCPA e-newsletters or in Footnote, the MNCPA member magazine published nine times each year. You may also contribute content to be used in MNCPA Perspectives, the MNCPA blog. Articles should have a focus on current developments, trends and issues affecting the accounting profession. Prospective authors work with MNCPA editors to develop an article idea, outline and content.
Reasons to volunteer
Here are three important business reasons you and your firm should be volunteering:
- Network. The most essential part of any business.
- Show your stuff. Volunteering and community service show potential customers the integrity of your company and demonstrates the quality of your work.
- Get attention. No better way to get positive PR exposure, and attracting new customers doesn’t hurt either.
